California Technical Assistance Center (CalTAC)
CalTAC phone representatives can be reached at 800-955-2954. Representatives are available to answer basic questions for LEA coordinators and will escalate more complex issues to your Success Agent, if necessary. CalTAC representatives can assist with your questions such as:
- Locate information
- on websites (such as where to find the Initial ELPAC RSVP list),
- in manuals (such as where to find the instructions for reporting a testing incident), or
- in online systems like TOMS (such as how to assign a student to an alternate assessment).
- Navigate through CERS.
- Provide details about training, with
- workshops, calendars, and training registrations,
- guidance to the Moodle Training Site for access to Moodle trainings, and
- AST site navigation.
- Assist with TOMS tasks, including
- resetting a username or password,
- signing security forms,
- adding users when requested by a superintendent or LEA coordinator,
- receiving guidance on general information for generating and downloading an LEA (site-level reports),
- receiving guidance on uploading a TOMS template file (TOMS users, test settings, and students)
- placing and viewing orders including special paper requests (primary and supplemental and initial and summative), and
- navigating the Completion Status Reporting System.
- Support the Test Administrator Interface, with
- basic troubleshooting,
- creating and starting test sessions (e.g., upcoming test sessions, approval processes, or accessing and verifying a student’s test settings),
- explaining basic error messages and codes, and
- providing guidance to the newest secure browser versions.
- Support and documentation for testing questions and issues, such as
- searching and updating student demographics,
- understanding how an accessibility resource works (Accessibility Matrix),
- explaining condition codes (TOMS),
- accessing the THSS and DEI,
- creating return material shipping labels,
- assisting to identify, download, and install the newest supported secure browsers,
- referring to the Online Test Administration Manual,
- handling secure materials, and
- providing guidance on STAIRS, test security for the live testing environment, and the non-TOMS user security form.
