Preparation for the Assessment

Before administering the assessment, make sure to have the following materials available for each student:

• A test booklet
• An answer booklet (for CAASPP Smarter Balanced)
• At least two sharpened pencils for students (Pencils are recommended because marks made are erasable for the student. For users entering information into the DEI, they provide a dark mark on a page, which may facilitate identification of student responses.)
• Blank scratch paper
• Graph paper
  • Mathematics—Grades six, seven, eight, and eleven
  • Science—All grade levels
• Calculator (grades six, seven, eight, and eleven and the CAST—refer to the Calculator Use Guidelines subsection)
• Means for playing a CD (internal CD drive, external CD player)
